Why the name Professor Brawn?
The extract on the website says it all:
“Professor Brawn is a superhero character who is 'smart, kind and strong'. Created by a child with a learning disability, he became the catalyst to start a social enterprise based on the values of quality, dignity and inclusiveness.
The founders are parents and friends who want to make a difference to the special needs community and others who need a leg up in society. Their dream is to provide opportunities for jobs, showcase of special talents and to raise awareness and contributions by supporters of the cause.
Professor Brawn Café is the team’s first foray into the Food and Beverage business. Our mission is to provide affordable good food by an inclusive quality workforce comprising people of different abilities, ages and socio-economic background.”
Went with two other friends because we wanted to skip the queue at Lao Beijing. We were quite pleasantly surprised! The cafe projects a cosy feel. From where we sat, we had a good view of how the chef goes about preparing the food items. As we were settling in at the cafe, we began to absorb the deco of the cafe. And we started to understand its ambition a lil more.
The items are priced modestly for a cafe. The presentation of the food items were attractive. Food items are served fresh from the oven. Having piping hot food is something I really appreciate. It is a shame to eat lukewarm items at some other establishments.
For starters, we had chicken salad and the soup for our set meals. It is not the typical soup with garlic bread. The bread served is soft and warm. I felt that the intricate bits of the dining experience were taken care of and it was a delight.
The mains are as follows:
The portions were rather decent. And it was a satisfying meal. Each pax paid about SGD10 - 15. Would definitely revisit this place again.
